History of MOSAICS

Mosaic is the art of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials. The earliest known examples of mosaics made of different materials were found at a temple building in Ubaid, Mesopotamia, and are dated to the second half of 3nd millennium BCE.

What Is Upcycling with Mix-Media Mosaics?

Upcycling is a way of taking found material and repurposing it.  

Upcycled Art often becomes more beautiful than what it previously was.

Items can be broken down and reused in an art form called Multimedia Art.  

Materials are reused in a clever new way, giving them a second beautiful life.

What is Mixed Media?

Mixed media art is when the artist combines a mixture of different materials to create their work. 

The materials used can be anything, like paint, paper, cardboard, photographs, found objects, things from nature - anything!
